about.

Every journey towards healing involves overcoming a challenge. Hopefully you can learn from my story and start your own journey towards being a happier, healthier human.

we are all on a

journey

So you wanna know my story hey?, well since you asked so nicely . . . here goes.

The Short Version

It all started with never feeling like I was enough. Do you know that feeling? I thought if I only made myself perfect then I’ll be worthy of being loved. So I pushed myself to complete physical and mental exhaustion. There is an upside though. It gave me the opportunity to listen to my own body wisdom again and learn how to create balance in my life. I have never felt better. The best part is I know you can do it too!

The Long Version

My journey towards being a happy and healthy human started with my own (self-created) health challenges. Chronic fatigue, chronic inflammation, eczema, dermatitis, stress, anxiety, overwhelm, yep, that’s right, I’ve been there.

I was literally an exhausted, walking rash.

one way trip to

overwhelm

I literally ran myself into the ground with constant exercise, extreme calorie counting and burning the candle at both ends with study.

I was trying sooooo hard (too hard) to be enough.

My attempts to control my constantly inflamed and exhausted body led me on the path of orthorexia, body dysmorphia and complete overwhelm. I loathed myself. I felt completely ashamed and my self-esteem was at an all time low.

I was told to rest, but I had to keep going, I wasn’t going to stop, I couldn’t stop.

I felt so alone in my overwhelm. It can be challenging to reach out for help when you don’t think anyone will understand and you already feel so vulnerable.

here comes the

learning

My solution, try harder.

In my attempt to control my fears l became the expert on everything health and wellness. This led to punishing myself with more exercise, crazy, extreme routines and depriving myself of anything that could be seen as unhealthy. All in an attempt to avoid ever being vulnerable again, and I failed.

I would love to tell you that my breakthrough came from harnessing all of this knowledge, but in reality I was ignoring my own body and wisdom and pursuing what our current society seems to think health is . . . perfection.

I finally learnt my lesson when my body didn’t give me the choice anymore, I had to stop and just quietly, I was terrified.

celebrating

overcoming

It sounds too simple, but being forced to stop led me to yoga, the only thing I was capable of doing at the time.

The predictable sequences (read safe) allowed me to reconnect with my body and really understand what was going on inside. Trusting my body again provided me with this access to what was going on in my head and heart, probably for the first time ever, as I had never stopped to listen before.

By putting in the time with myself on my mat, I came to know myself, what I valued and I started changing my daily life intuitively to reflect how I wanted to feel.

Now, I’m the happiest and healthiest I have ever been. I feel safe in myself, trust my body and intuition and support myself daily with a life that honours my relationship with myself.

I’m so grateful for the challenges and wouldn’t have it any other way. Its all helped fuel my passion for health and wellness and led to working in the health fitness industry and public health where I’ve met amazing, inspiring and courageous people just like you!

want to share your

story?

It’s too easy to push through and keep punishing yourself on that lonely journey of ‘fixing’ yourself in an effort to be perfect . . . I mean healthy.

I’ve met so many people, probably just like you who wanted to change, had the motivation, but nothing worked, no matter how hard they tried.

If you can glean one insight from my journey, this is it, the inconvenient truth.

The truth is, if you want to create change you need to be able to love, accept and trust yourself as you are now. Sadly, so many of us, if we look deep down inside really don’t.

To do this, you need to know your story. To really connect with who you are you need the time and the space to listen and learn to hear your voice again.

You are not alone and you can do this. Are you ready to share your story with me?
